Schroeder & Holt Expands Staff

Schroeder and Holt Architects is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott Starks, who has joined their expanding team as a Senior Project Designer.  Scott is an architectural professional with over 20 years of experience in diverse practice areas ranging from single family residential design, affordable housing, senior living, student housing, multi-family, mixed use, retail, hospitality, and interior environments. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Scott graduated with his Masters in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1996.

Scott’s primary area of focus is retail design for the Marcus Theatres Corporation in addition to having design responsibilities for a wide variety of diverse projects.

Schroeder and Holt Architects is pleased to announce the hiring of Dave Manke, who has joined their Architecture 2000 (A2K) team as a Project Coordinator.  Dave brings over 10 years of experience in areas ranging from senior living, multi-family, mixed use, and single family residential design and remodeling. Dave graduated with his Associates in Architectural Drafting and Construction Technology from Waukesha County Technical College in 2004. Dave’s primary area of focus will be with senior living, multi-family and mixed use projects.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Dave currently resides in Oconomowoc with his wife and two daughters.

History- Project Location
All Saints, a Catholic Charities Company, purchased this site in 2003.  All Saint’s vision for this property was to create a Catholic based retirement community.  The site lies both on the east side and west side of Commerce drive, adjacent to the Bishop O’Connor Center and across Watts Road from the Princeton Club west.

Since 2003, the following has been developed on site:
Infrastructure, consisting of the extension of Commerce Drive and the construction of Highview Drive and the extension of Plaza Drive,
            All Saints Retirement Center, a 144 Unit apartment building,
            All Saints Assisted Living a 58 unit assisted living and memory care facility,
            Hillside Estates, a 12 unit condominium building, and
            All Saints Cottages, two, free standing, duplex buildings.

In 2004 zoning was approved for 108 units of age restricted condo and multi-family under on the lands east of Commerce Drive.  To date, only Hillside Estates, a 12 unit has been constructed in this area. 

Vision- Project Description
The current vision for this property is to develop the remaining land as a true Continuum of Care Residential Community (CCRC).  In lieu of the 108 units west of Commerce, previously proposed and zoned, we are developing the following:
             A 4 Story Apartment building consisting of 48 units of Service Enhanced apartments,
             A 2 story Assisted living facility consisting of 63 units,
 A future 40-48 bed Skilled Nursing facility.
 The services to support and create a CCRC consisting of a dining area, a cafĂ©/bistro,      commercial kitchen, exercise/wellness center, Chapel, activity area, and associated  appropriate retail support.
 A connection to the existing 144 unit facility via a skywalk will be made.


Current status
The project is working its way through the approval process. Plan commission, Common Council and UDC approvals have been secured. The drawings have shifted from schematic design to design development and construction documents phase. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2015.

Schroeder and Holt Architects is pleased to announce the hiring of Melinda Poeppel, who has joined their Architecture 2000 (
A2K) team as a Project Manager. Melinda is NCARB certified and a LEED accredited professional with over 20 years of experience in diverse practice areas ranging from  higher education, commercial, mixed used, multifamily and health care. Over the last several years she has developed a specialized focus in senior living working on a variety of local and national building projects. Melinda has a Commercial Art and Design degree from  Carroll College and graduated with her Masters in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1996.

Melinda is a creative and detailed orientated individual with a passion to provide clients with innovative and well thought out design solutions raising the quality of life for residents they serve.
